Bangalore University is located in the Garden City of Bangalore aptly hailed as the “I.T. Capital of India”, was established in July 1964 as an off shoot of the University of Mysore.
Its purpose was to encompass higher education institutions within Bangalore, Kolar, and Tumkur, eventually evolving into an independent University. Initially, the Central College (CC) and the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) formed the nucleus of Bangalore University.
In the international arena, Bangalore University secured the 151st position among BRICS nations in the QS University Ranking: BRICS-2016. Nationally, as per the Hansa Research Survey 2016 featured in THE WEEK-May 29, 2016 issue, Bangalore University claimed the 15th spot in the Top Multi-disciplinary Universities across India. It also secured ranks of 9th in the Top State Multi-disciplinary Universities, 5th in the South Zone, and 1st in the state of Karnataka.
