Established in August 2003, Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women’s University (KSAWU), also recognized as Karnataka State Women’s University, holds the distinction of being the first university exclusively for women in Karnataka. Situated in Vijayapur (formerly Bijapur), the university is led by Prof. B K Tulasimala as its current Vice-Chancellor. Accredited under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, it serves as an affiliating institution for seventy women’s colleges across twelve districts in North Karnataka.
